A nifty weapon tip for new war/shd/pal/rng

Save up 18p and buy a Claymore from any given weapon shop. It's 11/43, which is way better than what you're otherwise likely to have at whatever level you can first scrape 18p together, and it sells back for 17p when you eventually get an upgrade, so you're basically renting the weapon for 1p. It'll easily last you until level 20. The other weapons they have in stock are probably the same way, I didn't check. I was able to afford it at level 8, and on top of being great DPS, it's also fantastic aggro because the ratio is so far above the rusty/tarnished shit people normally use around then.

    Returning Player to Live

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 10:40 AM PDT

    Hey fellow Norathians!

I have played EQ on and off since 2001 and thinking of coming back to a live server and play. Currently on a 1 year break, played some of the TLPs and on FV. Any suggestions of good populations ones? I hear and read that end game is pretty much a box fest.. I do not care to box honestly so looking for a guild as well..

How does raiding work in this game?

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 08:41 AM PDT

New player moved over from classic WoW, how do I go about raiding in this game?

What level do I have to be? Do I have to group up and physically travel to the raid? Will I be able to find groups?

Project M Patch Notes [November 2001]

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 06:51 AM PDT

    Patch notes Project M Implemented:

Tonight we have patched something to the PvP servers that many players have been waiting for. The ability to play that gnoll, orc, or the cute and fuzzy rat. On your character select screen you will notice another button in the upper right part of your screen called "Monster". Clicking this button will randomly place you in a low-level NPC in a random zone. You will be given full control of the creature to do with it what you like. You may hunt and kill other creatures. You may even attack other players.

Some things to remember when playing your own personal monster (NPC).

You will not be able to interact with players or NPC's other than moving and hitting attack. You cannot speak, trade, sell, or do anything else that a player can do. You will spawn with normal loot for the monster you are playing and Player Characters will be able to kill you for loot and experience. If you are a spell casting monster you might want to take a moment to memorize some spells. Once you die, you will return to the character select screen where you may choose to return as another NPC or play your normal character. You may gain experience, levels, and skills as this NPC, but once you die, it is all lost. You will need to start over the next time you choose to be a NPC character. You can't zone as a monster. If you try to cross a zone-boarder you will lose your progress and return to the character-select screen. Monster PCs (MPCs) can not loot, sell, or gain items. They only get what they start out with. This ability to play a monster is being implemented for PvP servers only as we have no plans to implement non-consensual PvP on a non PvP server.

However, we are still working with this system. We may find other ways to implement Project M on the non-PvP servers that are acceptable. We aren't done looking at the possible uses of this new feature.

What classes would you like to see in eq?

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 04:56 AM PDT

I know it's doubtful we will ever get more classes, but (for fun) if we did, what would you like to see? I listed a few below.

Trickster/Illusionist: Melee dps with in-combat, short duration charm spells, and out of combat illusion utility. Kind of a hybrid between rogue and enchanter. Inherently not as good as a rogue in the stab department or an enchanter in charming, but better melee dps and cc ability than a bard (without any buffing or regens). Potential fear kiting, charm kiting, and pulling via feign death, blur/fade abilities for self agro control in group. Inclination towards evil and neutral races.

Battlemage/spellsword: A beefy caster hybrid. At least medium armor, rune and resist buffs, tash style debuffs. Some gimped DD and better melee than a priest, but mostly adps via situational weapon proc solo and group spell lines.

Witch/bloodpriest: A light armor priest/caster hybrid. Fire based DD like a druid, dots like a shaman or necro, lifetaps and debuffs better than an sk, undead charming, voodoo reverse damage sheilds (ie, target is damaged when it attacks pc, pc is healed when attacking target). rez/feigndeath/fade. Shitty standard healing. Undead charm kiting, fear kiting, root nuking/dotting for solo play. Provides a unique adps in group play but lower quality dps/debuff on par with a druid or necro, not great for xp groups aside from the voodoo hexing and rez. Super squishy.
