Some guides for players returning for Aradune/Rizlona

    Posted: 09 May 2020 06:25 PM PDT

I made these awhile back but have received a ton of positive feedback over the years for them, especially when new servers are about to come out, so I thought I'd go ahead and link them with Aradune and Rizlona just around the corner. I know a lot of us are getting our UIs/boxes setup ahead of time, so hopefully you'll find these helpful while you wait for the 27th.

    • Advanced Loot Window - Probably my most popular video, this gives a very thorough walkthrough of the Advanced Loot Window. If you haven't played since it was introduced, or need a refresher, this will bring you up to speed.

    • GINA Overlays and Categories - If you've only used GINA for audio triggers, this will help you take your GINA game to the next level with it's visual features.

    • Raid Window Walkthrough - This is a good one if you've always used your raid window as-is, right out of the box. Even if you don't watch the whole thing, I recommend skipping ahead to the color coding section. Useful for raiders of any playstyle.

I think it's OK for me to link YouTube videos I've made, otherwise mods please delete this. I'm going to roll another shaman on Rizlona so once it launches I plan to put out more videos; if you have questions or requests let me know.

    TLP Duo Tierlist

    Posted: 09 May 2020 08:24 PM PDT

Trancefate's Entirely Arbitrary 2box Tier List for Classic - Vellious

This tier list is based on the 2box combo's ability to:

    1. Kill named mobs
    2. Farm platinum camps (such as rathe giants)
    3. Easily add more players to create a functioning 6 man party with tank/heals/slows/haste/cc/dps
    4. Provide time saving utility such as ports/invis/rez

This is all my personal opinion and I reserve the right to change it at any time. This is a fun exercise to help myself decide my next duo, and some friends who will be joining me for the first time having never played EQ.

God Tier (Farm entire camps or zones duo, just add water for a group):

    • Enchanter / Cleric - Chanter goodies, buffs and Cheal for pet, rez.

S Tier (Farm some camps and some high difficulty named duo or bring most requirements for a group):

    • Enchanter / Druid - Charm pet dps/tank with druid buffs/heals utility.
    • Shadowknight / Shaman - SK tanking/dps with shaman utility/buffs; shines with excellent gear.
    • Monk / Shaman - Monk dps/pulls/splitting with shaman utility/buffs; needs gear and torpor tanking on tougher mobs.

A Tier (Speed farm many good plat camps, may be lacking 2 or 3 components of a group such as CC, Tank, Slow, Heals):

    • Druid / Magician - Magician's ability to speed grind plat mobs and low level farms with druids mobility/utility,
    • Necromancer / Shaman - Very versatile, pet fight/kite/fear/root rot/torpor tank options. Can root rot tons of mobs at once, both have great mana regen tools.

B Tier (Can farm certain camps or plat grinds pretty well or is easy to start groups with, probably not both)

    • Magician / Magician - Magician's speed farming ability, but with two pets! Easier to make sure you get tags while both mages med, and can be added into any group as a great DPS component.
    • Necromancer / Necromancer - Similar to above but with weaker pets and far more utility. Double feign death, rez, invis/ivu, corpse summon can be really awesome. Still capable of smashing guards and giants mindlessly with pets.
    • Paladin / Shaman - Just add CC for a full party. Lacking in DPS but is a very solid core to start a group that brings slows/heals/rezzes/tanking and good roots/stuns.

C Tier (Not bad, needs a little extra for a good party):

    • Ranger / Cleric - Just add CC and you have a party. Ranger can tank most level 1-45 content and slowed mobs in classic/Kunark
    • Druid / Shaman - Solid root rotting, good utility and mobility, can start solid parties pretty quickly depending on the zone.
    • Druid / Wizard - quad kiting, otherwise D tier.

D Tier (Fun, but a third or fourth member is really going to help these combos):

    • Paladin / Necromancer ( C tier in undead zones ) - Can duo undead decently using necro charms and pally undead nukes. Starts groups pretty well just needs a healer for most camps.
    • Paladin / Druid - Durable and capable of some named camps, travels easily. Add a cleric or shaman + cc for a group.
    • Shadowknight / Cleric - Just add CC for a group.

But I Don't Like Paying Attention to a Second Character Tier (For those of us that have a one track mind but still want some extra power):

    • Bard / Wizard -

In duo: Autofollow bard to the wizard with melody on, $$$profit with wizard selo's quad kiting.

In groups: use bard as main for pulling / ccing / supporting, nuke and sit on wizard.

Press one button every minute or two on each character tier (For those of us that like to play Rocket League while EXPing):

    • Wizard / Wizard - I recommend a cool naming scheme. You may have seen mine on Mangler (Boom Shakalaka and Whoop Thereitis). It's kind of boring but also really fun being able to make mobs just vaporize. Wizard CC is the best CC.
    • Cleric / Wizard - Cheal tank, drop the comet, sit for 45 seconds.

    Not seen:

There are many combo's out there I haven't mentioned and some of them will be quite good come further expansions. You'll notice the lack of warrior and rogue, this is because they do not perform well in duo compared to other classes.

    Shaman Squall is OP, ya'll

    Posted: 09 May 2020 04:27 PM PDT

Did the LDoN two group anniversary mission last night, the bot shaman spamming squalls came in second on the heal parse. Significantly behind the sk spamming six lifetaps, but way out in front of everyone else.

    Duo help for Aradune.

    Posted: 09 May 2020 02:42 PM PDT

Aradune is right around the corner, going to be 2 boxing and trying to find a good duo that I will be able to raid with eventually but at the same time I have a 7mo old baby so won't be able to group all the time. The normal Chanter/Clr duo is great and all but having random AFKs with a chanter pet, is not a good idea. Have done Mnk Shm in the past. Trying to find a decent duo that I can just duo with myself, while at the same time will be able to find or make groups if I do have extended play time, any feedback would be nice

How are mercenaries holding up these days?

    Posted: 09 May 2020 06:10 AM PDT

I haven't played in about 4 years and last time I got to around Lvl 95. I remember tank mercs having issues with higher level mobs and they were basically worthless. I'm toying with the idea of coming back for a bit of nostalgia and curious if tank mercs are viable?
