In a time of box armies, players snapping at each other over krono, and countless displays of similar greed, there can sometimes be found reminders of the days of classic Everquest -- where Norrath was still a brutal, scary place, and adventures had to form close bonds, zealously protect their reputations, and rely upon each other to mutually enjoy a /hobby/ (not a competition, race, or form of supplemental income).

Today was one of those days on the Mischief server. In the Southern Desert of Ro--formerly and always the Oasis of Marr--let it be known that Scarvus the Level 60 Gnome Enchanter of <Divine Oath> upheld the ancient honor code of Everquest during a brutal 14 hour poopsock camp of the ridiculous Enchanter epic bottlneck mob, Cazel the Sand Giant. This camp has been notorious in recent weeks for kill stealing, box farming, and has become a bed of toxicity.

Knowing fully well that Cazel dropped but one magical spoon needed to complete the Enchanter epic, Scarvus agreed to team up with a fellow enchanter of a different guild, Kambam, and fairly roll the loot. Even when Scarvus' friends outnumbered those of Kambam for a few hours, he held true to this agreement. Instead of DPS racing, KSing, bickering like babies, or generally acting like deplorable little neckbeards, these two brave enchanters sat under the glaring desert sun (allowing each other to take multiple AFKs and agreeing to fairly random the drop even if they were AFK) until Cazel at last spawned. Scarvus upheld the honor of classic Everquest by fairly rolling the drop and congratulating Kambam when she won the drop by the luck of RNG. It was wonderful to observe this while idling alongside these great enchanters.

Although scenes like these are somewhat rare these days, let it be known that players like Scarvus are still out there. Upholding the timeless honor code of classic Everquest, :'-). Now to make sure this gnome also gets that stupid spoon...

    A salute to Scarvus!

    Question about Kerafyrm and lore

    Posted: 23 Jul 2021 09:00 PM PDT

Something I never quite got: was he always evil and the dragons put him to sleep to protect everyone? Or was he not evil to start and became evil out of revenge for being imprisoned?

Mischief: What raid box for SK main?

    Posted: 23 Jul 2021 04:55 PM PDT

I'm casually playing an SK main right now, but in a few months will be looking to join the ranks of an established raiding guild... think SoV/Luclin era.

I have a SHM box that I have leveled with the SK to 60. Together, they have formed a solid foundation for exp groups which is has made leveling that much easier.

SKs are a dime a dozen, and slots for them in developed raid forces are generally limited. Looking to raise a box that is raid critical that would make me a competitive candidate to slot in to a proficient raid force in a few months. Thinking Bard vs Cleric. Anyone with knowledge of current PST raiding guilds on Mischief- which would be a more desireable combo with a well played SK?

Was leaning towards Bard, as being able to supply one could mean significantly improved DPS for the SK and others in the same group with even minimal effort. Has anyone boxed an SK with a Bard? How impossible is it to play them both well?

    A little macro help

    Posted: 23 Jul 2021 04:45 AM PDT

im playing a duo and trying to make a simple macro that targets me, casts buff, then targets partner then casts same buff again. I've tried various pauses and putting the pauses on same line before and after the commands and tried putting everything on separate lines too but i cant get it to work. Furthest i got is target self, buff, targets partner... but last buff will not cast.

    Should I play?

    Posted: 23 Jul 2021 12:14 AM PDT

I'm weighing the options in my mind and would like input. I have been playing final fantasy 11 recently, and am wondering whether to play everquest. I would appreciate any answers to my questions about the game.

This game has a lot of expansions and content, is the volume of content better than ff11, or is a lot of it empty?

When making alternate characters, does one have to go through the same quests for storylines and the like again, or is progress shared between all your characters? This is the main thing keeping me away from games where you have to make an alt character to play a different class.

Other than that, what are some of the differences between everquest and ff11? If I like one, what will I like or dislike about the other? This is all new to me, but everquest looks pretty fun and I want to get to know it a little before diving in.
