Everquest Another returning player question (Live / Boxing)

Another returning player question (Live / Boxing)

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 06:37 PM PST

Hi all, I've been playing on and off since '01. Back after around 4 years away. I've decided to make a group around a BST. What would be the best compliments in today's game? Not looking to raid for a long time, if ever again.

    Idea 1: War / BST / Brd / Wiz / Shm /Clr

    Idea 2: Sk / BST / Dru / Wiz / Enc / Clr

Or other ideas? Thank you for your help!

Thinking about giving Everquest a shot

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 05:09 AM PST

I first have to say that EQ has a very special place in my soul, as I was but a pre pubescent lad when it launched originally. I was able to watch friends and family play it and and remember being in complete awe whilst watching as the mysteries of this amazing fantasy world unfolded before very my eyes. Alas, I thought never would I see the day where I could join in the adventure, roam the hills of Qeynos, slay fowl beasts, and become a hero of Norrath. I am sure that now, EQ must be quite different from the EQ I remember as a boy, but I have to play it. My questions to the EQ community are... What server do I choose? Are there any players left out there to make the world feel alive? Are there any players that wouldn't mind taking in a Newb such as myself, and showing me what being a Norrathian is all about? I appreciate any response to this post, Thank you :)

Advice for Returning Player to Live

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 10:29 AM PST

I saw that the latest expansion released relatively recently and is a rehashing of some Velious content and I have been inspired to return to Norrath if I can recover my 12 year old account. Assuming I recover my account, I will be a 85 Shadow knight with the highest group gear from SoD. I'll only have about 1600 AAs (yikes), and I have a variety of clickies. Some questions:

    1. What would be the most effective strategy to tackle leveling up, in the past I've always went straight for max level then started AAs, but with how many AAs I'm likely missing would I be better served doing it differently?
    2. On a live server, should I expect to have to solo, solo w/ merc, or group at my current level and going forward?
    3. What is the gear progression like now? SoD was the first pretty effective group gearing cycle I remember being in the game. Will I be stuck until I farm gear in the appropriate expansion like in the past, or are there vendor, crafted, or "world" drop items I might be able to find and use regularly?
    4. I've heard of some huge QoL changes with tradeskills, and all of my current skills are sitting at about 200. I have materials to level some of them up probably to 300...is that still the cap and is it worth doing or will it be a waste of time and resources?
    5. I am missing the Inktu'ta piece to finish my BiC, is that soloable at max level now or am I going to continue to be stuck on that stupid step?
    6. With the general climate of the game and relative power of the classes, are SKs still in a good place or will it be likely that I'll need a second account to box to make life easier for myself? Prior to SoD...I spent a lot of time following myself around with a pocket cleric, will that need to be my reality again?
    7. Are there any newer than SoD, must have clickables that I should take my time to get as I am leveling up again?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    New server 3 box

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 07:10 PM PST

I'm assuming there will be another server coming up that will launch and was thinking about what I should box. I was thinking about trying out:sk, shaman, Druid would lack in dps but would have slow, tank healing and transportation. What are your thoughts?
