| Undiscovered quests in classic Posted: 23 May 2020 07:55 AM PDT Probably 10 years ago I remember reading some pc gamer magazine and there was a whole section about despite how "old" EQ is, it has managed to do well over the years and continues to outlast even modern MMOs. Anyway, one of the points it made about what makes EQ fun is that despite how long it's been around, there's still a ton to discover as only 1/3 of all the classic quests have been discovered and completed. So, I'm pulling this from 10 year old memory, but is this even remotely accurate? Has anyone discovered any original quests recently that aren't already documented? I feel like this can't be real mainly because people figured out the epic quests with no guide and I'm guessing those have to be at the top of the difficulty charts for classic - velious. That said, I really want it to be true and hope there are still bonkers unnerfed items that were just never discovered. [link] [comments] |

| Never played EQ and have some questions about TLP servers compared to Project 1999 Posted: 23 May 2020 07:27 PM PDT Hi all, so like the title indicates I have not played EQ before although I remember it coming out and wanting to play. WoW has been my first MMO experience for years although I've dabbled here and there with Project 1999 Blue, and most recently a little in Green. That's been... rough, really really rough for someone with no experience in EQ so I started to think of giving the TLP servers a try since they seem to be a little more modern than pure P99 is so it might be a bit easier to get into? So that said I have a handful of questions about the TLP servers to compare them to my existing experience on P99 to see if it seems like a better experience for a brand new to EQ player and if it's worth buying a premium membership to try it out. As I understand it while the TLP servers start at Classic and move up, a lot of enhancements are going to be active that were added earlier? Like you won't need to corpse run naked if you die and lose XP and there are no XP penalties for some races/classes? I'd guess that there aren't the super dark nights too (P99 Green has things really dark if you're like a human and you need a light source and even then I can barely see like a few feet in front of me). That definitely sounds like it might be a bit easier to get into since I'm having a rough time in P99 although it's making me appreciate what later games did ;) Now common advice on P99 is also that you shouldn't play a melee as your first class since they are very gear dependent but you usually see like Necro/Mage/Druid recommended. I normally play melee classes (my mains in WoW are Paladin and Warrior) so is this also true on the TLP server or not as bad as in P99? I would like to experience EQ since I never got to years ago but I also think that since I didn't play it back in '99 having the lack of modern conveniences on P99 is a downer, and the TLP servers sound like they fix that issue but still have the old content and feel (for the most part) but with a bit more polish? I'm not sure if I would ever devote enough time to get into raiding in EQ but I'm more interested in seeing the style and values of the pre-WoW MMORPG era (and I'm not going to lie, I'm very interested in Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen if/when it ever comes out and playing EQ seems like it might be good preparation) If so then it sounds like I might want to try and get in on the new one that's launching soon! | Live - Armor with no class restrictions Posted: 23 May 2020 02:41 PM PDT I recently picked up Thulian Linked Breastplate (https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=91902) while in The Grounds and found that there are no class restrictions or even focus effects. The item graphic is clearly plate, yet any class can equip. What is the point of this armor? I did some research and there appears to be a ton of this kind of gear within his level range. | How to master Goblin (druid 1.5 epic HALP) Posted: 23 May 2020 03:55 PM PDT I've got 3/4 tufts of tangled Maidens Hair, but I'm stuck at the step where you don a Goblin disguise and shout "start the event" in Goblin. How do I actually learn goblin Speech? It's not in the list of languages when I try to change the chat channel filter. Do I need to talk to them while fighting? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 23 May 2020 03:19 AM PDT I am having trouble finding guides about how rangers perform throughout the different eras, and the rotations used for DPS. It is a class that I've seen go from melee through Luclin then Range, back to melee and supposedly range dps is good again. Does anyone know at which points through EQ I want to focus on melee or range for DPS? Also, not sure skill/spells/etc to use for rotations at different points since the class changes a bunch and most info focuses on Classic-PoP or Live. Finally what's a good site to get an accurate idea of bis for weapons and gear? I tried eqitems.com and it's given me things out of era from filters, stuff that no longer drops, and seems to prio weapons with stuns that would be aggro grabbers. [link] [comments] |

| Shm + Bard + Sk/War/Rng? (Mangler) Posted: 23 May 2020 07:08 AM PDT So I've been playing and exping a 65 shm and bard and it's pretty fun. I've never 3-boxed and am trying to decide on a tank/dps to round out my little crew. I've been trying to find resources on comparing the pros and cons of shadowknight, warrior and ranger but most of those conversations and info seem to be aimed at live. Looking for some advice on what I can expect from each of these choices. I'm leaning towards shadowknight, but warrior and ranger also seem like a fun choice. I'm mostly looking to accomplish decent solo exping for my 3 guys and hitting up named targets (I think this is where rangers might fall off for me because their tankiness is a bit lacking). Our composition is currently Enchanter/Enchanter/Magician/Cleric/Monk. We're still figuring out what we want for the last slot. We're trying to do a group composition that'll net the maximum exp/hour. Last slot will very likely be Enchanter. We're currently looking for an Enchanter/Magician/Monk. Please be ready to run 25% exp pots, get some practice on Monday/Tuesday, and use SoW pots when moving between areas. If you want to race to be first to 50 on Aradune and want to go absolutely all out, this is the group for you! We also have access to an updated ZEM spreadsheet that most nobody else has.
