Tldr: Grey pets can dramatically improve this duo's viability without the attention or risks of normal charming.

I'm playing a velious era server that allows a box and figured this would be good advice for anyone with this combo having dps trouble when not grouped. A druid charming/kiting/quading leaves a boxd paladin as dead weight. But if the druid charms a green or grey animal up to about 10 levels under whatever you are hunting, than you can up your dps and mana efficiency by miles and still be utilizing both characters.

Last night, lv 36/36, I cleared a round of spectres in oasis without the pet and was struggling to keep up with spawns over kill speed and med time. I changed my druids spells up (swapped dd for charm and my big dot for second best) and dragged a deepwater croc over, the kill speed and medtime difference was night and day. The charm frequently held full length and breaks posed little threat (the hasted/armed pet could barely scratch the paladin, allowing easy rebuffs and recharming). If the pet gets aggro it will die quick (like booboo), but it's a nonissue with the tank. I was saving so much mana that I only needed to stop to rebuff and sell. I also tried this with an alligator in cazicthule to the same effect.

This is a game changer for me, I was considering dropping the pal for an enchanter on this server(low population) but now I'm confident I can push through to end content without afking my paladin or dying of boredom.

    Everquest UI is annoying

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 01:08 AM PDT

So I just got into Everquest today, but the UI Interface is bugging me out so far. It feels way too cluttered to play the game with all of it being in my way. Is there a way to fix it?
