Brand new player have a bunch of small questions

Hi I'm brand new to everquest having played many mmos prior but never getting into EQ. My question is how should I approach this? Can I go through stories all the previous expansions starting from base game? Is there even a story? Can I solo everything? Should I just start a fresh character on a progression server? I really like the old school vibe of this game and I want to get into it i just don't have any friends who play this game to teach me the ropes and it doesn't seem to be newbie friendly

Binding at firepots a thing on TLP?

Rizlona kunark key question

Will we need to do the key quests for the kunark zones, or will some not need a key?

I think i remember Agnarr needing to do the quest for the Seb key.
