Differences between TLP and p99 Servers?

    Posted: 26 Apr 2020 12:59 PM PDT

I know that p99 aims to accurately recreate the game as it was during each expansion through velious, but I have to admit I don't remeber all the differences between the expansions when things became available and differences between it and TLP. I'll list ones I know and if you could answer the ones I'm unsure or add ones I missed it be helpful to me and others wondering the same thing.

    Things different on p99:

    • Dying not only has xp loss penalty but you respawn naked and need to retrieve items off corpse.

    • You can only rez a corpse for 3 hours (counts down while online) and corpse will decay with items in 7 days.

    • Certain Class/Races have XP penalties associated with them. (I believe this goes away, but not sure how many months after fresh launch).

    • There are hell levels where it takes longer to get through than compared to other levels.

    • Money has weight to it and can encumber you, which slows you down and can eventually root you in place. (becareful running around with a bunch of money while having a strength buff).

    • Zone Maps are not available by default.

    • You have to open a spell book in order to meditate (Not sure if this eventually goes away in p99)

    • There are no instances and only 1 version of a zone. So all highly sought camps and raid bosses are highly competed for and usually on lock down.

    • you can only use classic character/npc models

    • Zones such as Freeport, Commons, Ro, Oasis, etc are in their original state before being redesigned.

    • No boxing of characters allowed

    • No email/parcel system in game to send things to people

    • No melee augments on weapons or earlier disciplines to help with threat.

    • You lose pets and illusions upon zoning/logging.

    • No origin AA. If you don't have Gate, Port from player, or Port item you have to hoof it out of dungeon or zone.

    • Have to rememm spells upon death.

Maybe someone can answer these and add stuff I missed:

    • Maps aren't apart of p99 but are addons like brewall maps able to be used?

    • Defualt UI on p99, but are you able to add mods to customize appearance?

    • Does p99 have buff / debuff timers? If not can you use addon? If not how do know time left on debuffs / buffs?

    • Does GMs enforce "play nice" policy with regards to highly contested camps? (manastone, guise of deceiver, fungie staff etc) where one group/guild cannot monopolize the spawn and not allow others a chance? What about kill stealing?

    • What is Raid scene like? I assume I have to join the top 1 or 2 guilds in order to have a chance. Are they strict like you are required to camp a spawn area for 12 hours for potential window, and need to make all bat phone calls to stay in guild?

*EDIT: Are there any world game chats or do you have to go to each individual zone for specific zone chats?

How does loot system work in groups and raids again? Do you have to pray a party or group memeber doesn't walk up to a named kill and loot item for themself? Any type of need/greed system to prevent? Also, if I remeber correctly corpses have a timer before they are free to loot to anyone which wasn't the case on TLP. This still hold true?

Anyone happen to know which target ring this guy is using?

I've been looking through the target ring section on eqinterface and I can't find it. I'd really like to have this myself or at least one that's similarly easy to see.

    Thanks in advance.

    Velious-Locked TLP viable?

    Posted: 26 Apr 2020 02:20 PM PDT

So, a lot of people liked p99 due to it just having the classic 3 eras. Would a new TLP that only progresses to Velious in a similar fashion that Agnarr did with Pop be popular and be healthy population wise in longer term like p99. I see people that like p99 for the content, but are turned away due to toxic endgame raid scene, and miss the few qol improvements like items staying with you on death, coins no weight, maps, and instanced raids.

This would actually be my ideal server since it takes the best from both. I could also take small breaks between endgame characters to level alts up without being super behind on content instead of having 1 maybe 2 characters per TLP due to multiple xpacs releasing and having to play catch up on them. Just not sure the longevity of server. Because p99 seems to have a healthy population and can even find leveling groups, but TLP seem to become ghost towns minus 1 or 2 raid guilds at end of their run. It would be nice to have a p99 esque server to play and come back to with the qol improvements.

Some might be asking if I like those eras why not just join p99 then? Well due to QoL improvements, instanced raids (so I don't have to be bat phoned in order to get any raid bosses), and official service vs volunteers which could ban you on a whim.

Hi there, I am interested in starting to play EQ1. I watched some gameplay and it seems like something I could get into.

Do you have any tips and information for me how to start of? Which server, what to keep in mind etc.

    YouTube and Text is appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!
